SMALL ANIMAL REPRODUCTION Male Dog Castration: Updated Information & Alternative Options Dr. Alain Fontbonne, DVM, PhD, Dipl. ECAR. École National Vétérinaire d’Alfort Dr. Alain Fontbonne is a professor at the veterinary faculty at Alfort (Paris) in small animal reproduction. He became a diplomat of the European College of Animal Reproduction in 2003 and has supervised 8 residents. He is particularly interested in fertility control in dogs and cats, pathology of the genital organs, and infertility in animals intended for reproduction. Dr. Fontbonne has written more than 100 scientific articles and given more than 200 lectures all over the world. TOPICS INCLUDE • Reasons for contraception of the male dog: from population control to management of behaviour linked to testosterone. • Routine gonadectomy vs other methods of surgical sterilization • Medical castration using a GnRH implant, case studies. When: Tuesday January 30th , 2024, 6-9pm A light supper will be provided (pre-registration required) Where: Holiday Inn and Suites,101 Kanata Ave, Kanata Cost: $30 for CCVA 2023 members $80 for non-members ($30+$50 membership fee) Pre-registration is required by Tuesday January 23rd, 2024 Pre-registration is by email only to [email protected] Payment may be made at the registration desk by cheque made out to the CCVA or with cash
