Newsletter February 2026

President's Newsletter

I just want share with you what the CCVA is planning for 2026.

On February 19th, 2026, BMO is hosting a special lecture for CCVA members. The topic is Wealth Strategies for Veterinarians. The evening promises “networking, delicious food and drinks while gaining valuable insights” from BMO Wealth Partners on Tax and Estate Planning. The event starts at 6:30pm.

Kicking off this year’s social events is our annual Curling Bonspiel. It will be on Sunday, March 8th, 2026, at the Smith Falls Curling and Squash Club. This event requires no previous experience so come out and try an Olympic sport. This day event includes lunch dinner, fun, laughter, and lots camaraderie. If you don't want to play you can cheer on the teams or come for the meals and socialize.

Our Annual Ski Trip will be at Mont Tremblant March 12th-14th, 2026. Thursday evening begins with a casual meal and a CE lecture. Our hotel L’Ermitage du Lac, is conveniently located at the base of the ski village. It also has an excellent outdoor hot tub (pool). Once again, the CCVA has discounted tow tickets.

Our next Fall Conference will be October 28th and 29th, 2026 and all our speakers are confirmed! Our Small Animal program will feature Dr. Marion Desmarchelier (Behaviour) and Dr. Shauna Blois (Internal Medicine). Our Large Animal speakers are Dr. Trevor DeVries (Dairy Specialist) and Dr. Taralyn McCarrel (Equine Surgery). Program details will be posted on our website as soon as they become available.

Last year’s Fall Conference had record attendance and sponsorship. Without our dedicated volunteer council and sponsors none of this would be possible. A big thank you to you all for making it so successful. Renew your CCVA membership and participate locally with your colleagues and teams.

Hope to see you soon,
Sincerely,
Christie McLeod, B. Sc., DVM
